Investment approach

Structured Process
Disciplined Framework

Sirius Trading Partners applies a systematic investment process designed to bring consistency, discipline, and transparency to portfolio management. The focus is not on discretionary market predictions, but on building and executing repeatable models intended to navigate changing market environments with a defined framework.

Investment philosophy

The central idea behind the Sirius approach is straightforward: investment decisions are better made through a structured process than through emotion, impulse, or short-term narrative. Markets are dynamic and often unpredictable in the moment, but disciplined systems can still provide a repeatable framework for participating in them.

Rather than relying on forecasts or personal judgment calls, Sirius emphasizes research, testing, and rules-based execution. The objective is to create a portfolio process that can respond to changing conditions through predefined logic, while maintaining consistency across time and across client accounts.

This does not imply certainty, nor does it suggest that markets can be controlled. Periods of volatility, underperformance, and drawdown remain part of investing. The purpose of a systematic process is not to eliminate uncertainty, but to manage it through discipline and structure.

Sirius One

Sirius One is the firm’s currently available investment strategy. It is a systematic ETF allocation program designed to respond to changing market conditions through a structured, multi-component process. The strategy is implemented exclusively through conventional, unleveraged exchange-traded funds and cash.

Systematic Allocation

Portfolio allocations are determined by predefined quantitative models rather than discretionary market forecasts. These models evaluate measurable market behavior and translate their signals into a repeatable portfolio process.

Multi-Component Design

Sirius One combines complementary model components rather than relying on a single signal or market view. Each component contributes to the overall allocation within a coordinated strategy framework.

Conventional ETF Implementation

The strategy may allocate among liquid ETFs providing exposure to broad equity markets, sectors, commodities, and precious metals. Sirius One does not use leveraged ETFs, inverse ETFs, or other complex exchange-traded products.

Cash as a Position

When a model does not support an eligible long exposure, the corresponding portion of the portfolio may remain in cash. Holding cash can reduce market exposure, but it does not guarantee protection against loss or prevent periods of underperformance.

Although Sirius One avoids leveraged and inverse products, it remains an actively managed investment strategy and may experience substantial volatility, trading losses, drawdowns, and periods of underperformance. No model, allocation process, or use of cash can guarantee a profit or eliminate investment risk.

Sirius Plus

Sirius Plus is a separate systematic ETF strategy designed for investors who can accept the additional risks associated with leveraged, inverse, and other complex exchange-traded products. It applies the firm’s model-driven framework through an expanded investment toolkit and is not currently available to new clients.

Expanded ETF Toolkit

Sirius Plus may use conventional ETFs together with leveraged, inverse, and other complex exchange-traded products. This broader implementation universe allows the strategy to express both long and inverse model signals.

Multi-Period Framework

The strategy combines model components that may operate over daily, weekly, and other defined periods. These components are coordinated within a single portfolio allocation process rather than managed as unrelated trades.

Leveraged and Inverse Exposure

Leveraged and inverse ETFs can magnify gains and losses and may perform differently from their stated daily objectives over longer periods. Their behavior can be affected by compounding, volatility, rebalancing, trading costs, and changing market conditions.

Higher Risk Profile

Sirius Plus is expected to experience greater volatility and more pronounced fluctuations than a comparable unleveraged strategy. Its use of complex products requires a higher tolerance for risk, drawdowns, and potentially rapid changes in account value.

When Sirius Plus reopens, participation will be subject to client suitability, custodial and trading permissions, and the client’s affirmative election of the strategy. Clients will receive additional disclosures addressing its structure and material risks before participating.

Execution process

Rules-Based Decision Making

Portfolio decisions are generated from predefined quantitative models that evaluate market behavior using measurable inputs such as price action, momentum characteristics, volatility conditions, and related statistical relationships. The purpose of this framework is to support disciplined execution rather than discretionary reaction.

Why execution matters

A sound investment model is only useful if it is implemented consistently. Sirius places significant importance on maintaining process discipline so that portfolio decisions reflect the strategy design rather than changing emotions or ad hoc judgment.

Research to Implementation

Strategy ideas are first evaluated through research and testing before they are incorporated into the investment process. This research-oriented foundation is intended to connect portfolio actions to a broader framework of evidence and repeatability.

Consistency Across Accounts

Because Sirius manages accounts through a structured process, the same core decision framework can be applied consistently across client portfolios, subject to account-specific constraints, custodial mechanics, and practical trading considerations.

Risk discipline

Risk management is not treated as a separate overlay added after returns are considered. It is built into the design of the portfolio process itself. Sirius seeks to manage risk through diversification of signals, disciplined position structure, and adherence to the rules of the system.

Process Over Prediction

The aim is not to forecast every market turn correctly. Instead, Sirius focuses on maintaining a process that can operate through uncertainty with consistency and discipline, recognizing that no single model or indicator is infallible.

Structured Exposure

Portfolio exposures are shaped within a deliberate framework rather than through impulsive allocation changes. This supports more consistent decision making and helps reduce the influence of short-term market noise.

Acceptance of Drawdowns

Drawdowns and difficult periods are an inherent part of investing. A disciplined strategy must be designed with the understanding that even well-constructed systems will experience periods of volatility and temporary underperformance.

Long-Term Orientation

The strategy framework is intended to be evaluated over meaningful periods of time rather than on isolated outcomes. Maintaining a long-term perspective is essential when applying any systematic investment process.

Implementation universe

Sirius generally implements its investment process through liquid exchange-traded funds. ETFs allow the portfolio to express model-driven exposures efficiently while preserving transparency, operational flexibility, and broad market access.

Depending on the strategy component, the implementation universe may include broad equity ETFs, sector exposures, defensive positioning tools, and other liquid exchange-traded vehicles that fit the requirements of the systematic framework. Instruments are selected for their practicality within disciplined portfolio management rather than for thematic storytelling or novelty.

The result is an investment process designed to remain research-driven, operationally clear, and consistent with the firm’s broader emphasis on structure and repeatability.
